A little background.
I've known Ken and JD for a little more than 10 years.
Ken was diagnosed diabetic as a kid.
A couple of years back, he began treatment to clear up some vision problems.
Before the treatments ended, he was blind.
Permanently.
His kidneys failed. He began dialysis.
6 hours a day, 3 days a week.
Permanently.
He became eligible for a kidney / pancreas transplant.
Against odds, a donor became available, and the surgery was performed earlier this year. K/P patients are usually discharged after 2 - 3 weeks of follow-up.
Not Ken. He finally made it home after myriad problems and complications.
And Ken and JD are lucky.
I've had this email sitting here for awhile.
JD wanted me to do something with it, so I did.
The PDF converter didn't pass hyperlinks the first time through, so I went back and inserted the text of the links. It's a little long, so I'm posting it as a file.
It begins with her email - tweaked a little for format, but pretty much as I recieved it.
After that - I added some resource links that you might find helpful.
Right Click and download the file.
