Tenure is a disease...

I have to agree with Walter here - Churchill is too easy to whack this week...

One thing that should not be ignored is the context under which Ward published this.  I believe he posted the opinion under contention on September 12th.

2001.

The day after.

Hell - less than a day after - when most of America (and a good chunk of the free world...) thought upwards of 10,000 people were at that moment piled into a former subway stop in lower Manhattan.

Forget the easily dismissed falsehoods and outright lies he tries to pass as 'professorial instruction' at that post - that's a 5,600 word diatribe manufactured at a time of intense national grief.

Grief that he was taking intense pleasure in.

This was an essay waiting to happen. The opinions and lies espoused there are ingrained in his very being and there is no way that his everyday actions are not affected by them.

The outrage this week - at first glance - seems out of place and out of time.

I think it's just a matter of 'unfinished business'...

America was just a little too preoccupied with some mourning and some ass-kicking the last couple of years, and we're just now getting back to little piss-ant anti-American tax-payer-funded douche-bags like Churchill.

[as a pretty much unrelated aside here - let him try that 'Native American' bullshit on a real reservation...he will be escorted to the nearest BIA office front window in a hurry - if he's lucky. Through a longer story for another time - I've spent more than a few summers living on reservations in the upper midwest. American Indian reservations.]
